| The DOS Command | Why are you doing this again? | The Corresponding Linux Command | |
| DIR | Because the concept of navigating actual representations of folders scare you. | ls | |
| TREE | The scrolling of all the folders on your hard drive looks pretty | ls -R | |
| CD | You've had enough of typing "C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Shared Documents\Shared Pictures\" | cd | |
| MKDIR (or MD) | Because if you see one more defaultly-named "New Folder", you're gonna scream | mkdir | |
| RMDIR (or RD) | Because the concept of not being able to delete a folder until it is COMPLETELY EMPTY appeals to you | rmdir | |
| DEL | Sometimes, it for some reason works in deleting those more stubborn files. Also, you hate the recycle bin with a burning fiery passion | rm -iv | |
| COPY | You keep forgetting about CTRL+C and CTRL+V | cp -piv | |
| XCOPY | Doing a COPY command 16,000 times over isn't your ideal way to spend a sunday | cp -R | |
| RENAME (or MOVE) | You need your F2-ing and your CTRL+X/CTRL+V consolidated to a singule action | mv -iv |
